From Corporate Downfalls to Family Tragedies
What if a CEO's fall from grace could redefine the corporate world’s understanding of power and accountability? Today, we tackle the shocking arrest of former Abercrombie & Fitch CEO Mike Jeffries on sex trafficking charges, unpacking not just the allegations but the broader implications for business ethics. Additionally, we delve into the perplexing realm of air travel as we dissect American Airlines' puzzling new boarding system. Is it an unnecessary complication, or could there be a more streamlined approach that airlines are missing? We don't just point fingers; we propose a practical solution for savvy travelers.
Shifting focus, we explore a wave of major store closures—Denny's, Walgreens, CVS—and speculate whether this trend is a symptom of a deeper, orchestrated shift in the retail landscape. We also confront a heart-wrenching story from Washington state, where a family tragedy leaves an 11-year-old girl as the sole survivor, with her brother allegedly involved. Before wrapping up, we challenge you to ponder what burning questions you'd pose to political figures Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. And don't forget to gear up for our interactive "Yo, Carol" segment, where your creative scenarios take center stage every Friday. Tune in for a powerful mix of current events, critical thought, and community engagement.

Hello and good morning. Welcome to Wednesday. We're halfway through the week, yay. All right, we are going over. We have several podcast topics today, so get ready, get your kids out of the room for this first one. I'm not going to read all the details because it's quite graphic and gross for this early in the morning. Former Abercrombie Fitch CEO Mike Jeffries is all smiles with an ankle monitor as he posts $10 million bond following sex trafficking arrest.
Speaker 1:So this MF-er leaves federal court wearing a pair of preppy white shorts and a navy sweater. Why are you wearing shorts to federal court? Just because you're a bazillionaire, gazillionaire, millionaire, whatever doesn't. I mean, really, you wore. This is what he wore. He looks like he wears slippers, a pair of white shorts, which he should not be wearing First of all. It's, it's. This is what winter. You should know better. It's, you don't wear white, okay, but anyway, this guy.
Speaker 1:I don't know if any of these victims were underage, so I don't know were under age, so I don't know. I forgive me for my naivety, but how is this a crime? If they are? I don't know, I don't. They're very young, but I don't think they're under age. I don't, I don't know. You can go read this because it gets pretty graphic and I don't know, are they? Are they forcing these young men to do this, like physically restraining them and doing this? I don't know it's. You need to if you want to go read this. It's hideous, it's hideous. But my question is if they're not under age, I don't you know what I'm saying. I mean, maybe, I don't know it's, it's, it's disgusting for sure, don't? It's disgusting I I just need to know how. It's illegal and I don't know what. What does sex trafficking mean? Anyway? Does that mean you're just paying for sex? Is that what that means? That means, what does sex trafficking mean? They change all these words around and you don't know what it means anymore. We don't use prostitution anymore. Somebody fill me in on this. I don't follow that kind of thing, so somebody needs to fill me in. We're going to move on to the next topic.
Speaker 1:American Airlines has a new boarding system and I don't know that I like it. I mean maybe. My question is why do you have a boarding system when you have assigned seats? The only thing that I would say is if you're going to board, if you're going to have boarding priority, let the handicap get on first. Obviously they're going to need more help. Let them get on first, then start with the back of the plane. Start loading the back of the plane first. That way you're not stumbling over people as you're going by. But this is a new way. The new technology is designed to ensure customers receive the benefits of priority boarding with ease and helps improve the boarding experience by providing greater visibility. So I guess you know. You know how they do A through C, you know D through G, whatever, how they board. Well now, if you're cut in line and they scan your ticket and you're out of and you're not in the correct group, it's going to beep at you and they're going to make you step aside, basically. But again, if you have assigned seating, why do you have to have a boarding system? I don't understand this. Again, if you're going to have a boarding system, start loading the back of the plane first and then work your way forward. That's all I.
Speaker 1:Okay, let's move on to store closings. Denny's gets burned as business slows, set to shutter 150 underperforming diners. So Denny's is closing down. Walgreens is closing down, big Lots is closing down. Cvs is closing down. There are a lot of businesses closing down and it's kind of starting to make me wonder. It's starting to make me wonder if this is not engineered or designed to do this.
Speaker 1:There's a lot. 7-elevens are closing down Family Dollar I don't know if I've already listed that. There are a lot of stores closing, over 2,000 stores. I already said CVS, ll Flooring I don't know what that is. Foot Locker Okay, I mean, I didn't even know. Foot Locker was really still around. Rite Aid, big Lots, a lot of a lot of Walmart. There's some Walmarts that are closing down Seven locations, probably because they popped up nearby somewhere else.
Speaker 1:Um, yeah, this TJ Maxx's are closing. Wow, that is insane. Uh, yeah, that's kind of. It just makes me wonder. It's starting to make me wonder. Um, megan Kelly had a guest on yesterday. I forget her name. She grew up in China and when Mao started doing the culture uh, counterculture revolution or whatever you call it, and it's pretty crazy, and she is seeing all kinds of signs of it happening here. Of course, go check out that interview with Megyn Kelly I'm sure she'll have it on her YouTube channel today probably and at the lady she's an author. I forget her name. Forgive me, but she's gonna be with Trump today, so maybe you can see some of her speech today.
Speaker 1:All right, we need to move on to the next story, which is going to be oh y'all, this is crazy. There's a big mass murder. Not mass murder, well, it's a family murder. All right, let me just read the headline An 11-year-old girl is believed to be the sole survivor of the mass killing inside a lavish Washington state home on Monday, where five family members, including three young kids, were found shot to death, according to the local reports, and the 15-year-old boy is reportedly responsible for this, and these kids were homeschooled.
Speaker 1:They're well off. We don't know what happened. A 15 year old boy 15 years old is behind bars after police found the lifeless bodies of two adults and three young teens, riddled with bullets, inside the family's two million dollar cabin in fall city around 5 am, while a sixth victim the girl was shot twice during the disturbing massacre, but she is. She has survived, so hopefully we were going to find out what the hell happened here, my god. I mean, obviously he shot his family, but why? Why do we always have to know? Why, right?
Speaker 1:Prosecutors on tuesday asked the court to change to charge the teen who was not identified with five counts of first degree murder? Yes, okay, we know that. We know that. But the teen who waived his right to attend his first appearance in King County Superior Court was described by defense attorney uh Amy Parker as a young boy who enjoys mountain biking and fishing. What, what are? What is this what? And they're homeschooled and the neighbors said they were nice kids. They were always out helping the neighbors with with projects. I mean, what the hell? What is going on? I don't know. We need to know more about that. Oh, and here's another. Here's another topic that you need to investigate, because this was also the first 20, 30 minutes of Megyn Kelly's show.
Speaker 1:Yesterday she talked about this Kamala Harris accused of plagiarism again, this time for fabricating a sex crime and cheating off a former AG's notes. All right, so let's read this. Oh, okay, let's see. Go over here, all right. Okay, let's see. Go over here, all right. No-transcript. Oh gosh, oh gosh. In 2012, in a 2012 report on human trafficking harris issued while california's attorney general, she cited a fictional example of the type of call received by the national human trafficking hotline as a bona fide case that had occurred. So she took a fictional story, changed up a little bit and said she made, and she said she did it and was a as a case of hers, as real life. Oh this I mean, why is this not all over the place? You can go read that over there if you like.
Speaker 1:But speaking of kamala, speaking of kamala, uh, I don't know if you saw, a lot of people are comparing. Megyn Kelly talked about this yesterday too. Maybe it was on Pat Gray, I don't know. But people are starting to notice how joyful Donald Trump's campaign is going, especially after the McDonald's thing. He's out there, he's on podcasts, he's being human, he's being laughing, he's being human, he's being laughing, he's being nice, he's being relatable, he just being happy and joyful out there and making people laugh and having a good time. And people thought that he was going to be mad and they were afraid he was going to be mad and being out on the campaign with all these indictments and come off as being a horrendous person and angry all the time. Well, it's quite the opposite, isn't it? And then you go look at Kamala.
Speaker 1:My God, they showed Kamala, liz Cheney, maria Shriver at this event and they freaking looked miserable and as a woman, I was fucking embarrassed. Excuse my language. Now, look, I don't like any of those women. Okay, but as a woman I was embarrassed how they were. I was embarrassed how they were, how they presented themselves. Ladies, you've got to smile, you've got. I know, I know I used to get pissed off all the time as a young lady when people would tell me to smile all the time too. I couldn't stand it. But look, these ladies are out there. They look hateful, they look angry, they look grumpy, they look old, like old, frumpy people, and they can't talk. They can't, they can't articulate what, what they stand for, because they stand for nothing except for evil and hatred. And I guess that's what comes off as all right.
Speaker 1:Anyway, we got to move on. I sound like Joe now because I can't talk and articulate either, but I think you know what I'm saying. All right, it's just, it's just weird. It's just weird. Trump has to win. He has to win this, not just by a little bit, by a landslide. Don't you think?
Speaker 1:Or have I been too embedded in and engrossed in all all the people on the right side of the conservatives? I've been watching too much conservative news. Have they blown smoke up my skirt? What is this? Or do you think this is really what's happening? Maybe I need to go pay attention. Maybe I need to go listen to some CNN or MSNBC for a while and see what they're saying about everything. That would be interesting to go over there and watch a couple of their their news events to see what they're saying about everything, to see if they make Kamala seem joyful. I don't know how they can. I mean, come on, all right, because she's given them no material to do so.
Speaker 1:All right, got to come up with a question of the day. All right, here's your question. If you could ask one question of Donald Trump, what would it be? And if you could ask one question of Kamala Harris, what would it be? That's your question of the day. All right, thanks for listening. Gotta go. Oh, don't forget, I'm doing Yo, carol, on Fridays. Make up your scenarios and send them to me. Direct message me on Twitter or X, let me know, so I can answer them on Friday. All right, got to go. Thanks for listening. Bye.
