Faith and Mortality: A Monday Reflection
The power of public faith declarations takes center stage as we reflect on the Charlie Kirk Memorial service. What struck me most wasn't just the five-hour duration or the assembly of political figures, but the bold proclamation of biblical truth from people we rarely hear speak so openly about their spiritual convictions.
Marco Rubio's segment stands as a testament to unapologetic faith in the public square. His seven-minute speech—particularly the final moments—articulates core biblical principles with remarkable clarity and conviction. For anyone seeking to understand how faith and public service can intersect authentically, these two minutes offer a masterclass. When was the last time you heard a politician speak with such spiritual directness? The answer for most of us is likely "never."
Equally moving was Erica Kirk's extraordinary demonstration of forgiveness toward her husband's killer. In our retribution-focused culture, this act of grace transcends normal human capacity, offering a glimpse into the transformative power of deep faith. Witnessing such moments reminds us that even in our most devastating losses, forgiveness remains possible—though certainly not easy.
The podcast takes an unexpected turn toward mystery with the story of two young, experienced hunters found dead in Colorado wilderness without signs of trauma. Their disappearance and the circumstances surrounding their deaths raise troubling questions about what might have happened to these "resourceful outdoorsmen." Similarly puzzling is the tragic death of a tiger handler associated with Joe Exotic—a stark reminder of life's unpredictability.
These stories of faith, forgiveness, and mortality ultimately point to our shared human experience—navigating between moments of profound spiritual insight and everyday concerns like car maintenance and Bible reading routines. Join me in contemplating how we might incorporate more grace and truth into our own lives, regardless of the challenges we face.

Hello, good morning. It's Monday, so did you watch the Charlie Kirk Memorial? I did. I watched it from beginning to end. It was over five hours and I think my takeaway was that. Well, there's lots of takeaways.
Speaker 1:Charlie was huge, he was bigger than he thought, and all of those politicians all in one place, and most of them proclaiming the truth and the message about God and Jesus. If you have not listened to Marco Rubio's segment it's about seven minutes long. You can fast forward it to the closing part of his speech, probably the last two minutes or whatever. He spells it out just like the Bible spells it out, and I was a little bit in shock, a lot of awe of him for knowing it, and not just knowing it but proclaiming it right there in front of everyone. And for a politician, when's the last time you've heard a politician do that? I don't remember, ever Not like that. And he wasn't the only one, there were other ones that did it too. But marcos, he spelled it out just like it is the truth and you please go listen to it. And then, of course, erica kirk coming out and forgiving the killer of her husband. Uh, that was amazing. The killer of her husband, that was amazing Way better. She handled it way better than well just I. Just it was very moving and I'm very grateful that I am here on God's green earth to witness everything and to be just a small little blade of grass in everything.
Speaker 1:So, anyway, we need to move on to some other things. I have like 91 episodes more to go before I end this podcast. Oh, let's see, let me go over here. What am I going to read to you today from the New York Post? There were a couple of stories that I had in mind. I'm just trying to lay off of social media nowadays just because I just want to quit everything again. I want to quit my YouTube channel, I want to quit blogging. I just want to quit being online altogether. But I'm not going to. I'll still be here, let's see. Everything is just terrible and awful nowadays, except I don't know I got to fight, don't know I gotta fight through it. Gotta fight through it and ask god's strength and his will be done and pray and all of that. So, uh, switching gears, I don't know how to get into this next story here.
Speaker 1:Two 25 year old elk hunters found dead with no obvious signs of trauma after week-long search for missing pair. So I'm confused by this story. Two missing hunters were found dead in the rugged wilderness in southern colorado a week after vanishing during an elk hunting trip. According to authorities and reports, andrew porter and ian stosko, both only 25 years old, were located by colorado search and rescue teams on thursday a week after their last known contact on september 11th. Porter's aunt, lynn runkle, posted okay, so I know. They say you can't live without water. Um, after three days. So I don't know if they were dehydrated and they, I don't know. There's no sign of trauma. But it is with a broken heart and through tears that I give you this update. Andrew and ian have both been found deceased. Their bodies were discovered earlier today by colorado search and rescue.
Speaker 1:The remains of the two friends were found around 11 am, roughly two miles from the rio de los pinos trailhead I don't know a remote area of the National Forest marked by steep ridgelines and heavy timber. According to the sheriff's office, the two bodies showed no signs of trauma. Porter of Asheville, north Carolina, and Stosko of Salt Lake City, utah, were hunting in Colorado's Game Management Unit 81, a rugged swath of wilderness that stretches down the border of New Mexico. The Colorado Sun reported Severe storms moved through the area Thursday evening and we suspect the two young men were caught off guard by the weather. But what does that mean? They were caught off guard, I don't know. Porter last shared his location through a satellite device with his fiancée, bridget Murphy, after 3 pm on September 11th and had last pinged from his car near the trailhead.
Speaker 1:In a phone interview with the outlet the day before the bodies were found, the bride-to-be said she believed the pair returned briefly to Sasko's vehicle to change out of wet clothes based on gear discovered by deputies, hunting equipment was missing from the car, leading her to believe they had ventured back out. Missing from the car, leading her to believe they had ventured back out. She also told the outlet both men were very resourceful outdoorsmen, as in people who've been building shelters in the woods since they were 12 for fun. So do you see where I'm going with this On Wednesday? You think these two could survive a week. Something, I don't know. Something is weird about this. She also told the outlet that both men were already said that on Wednesday.
Speaker 1:Murphy said there was a confirmed sighting of the men with their car at the Spruce Hole trailhead on the previous Friday morning. The car was then moved back to the Rio Delos trailhead. That gives us one more night and morning. We know they were safe before the storms, so are they saying the storm? How did the storms kill them? I don't know.
Speaker 1:Over the following days, an intensive ground and air search was launched, involving multiple rescue teams. Thank you all Say a prayer. So basically that was it. That was the end of the story. So I need to know what happened. What do you think happened? I mean, I'm not an outdoors person so I don't know. I guess could they have drank some bad water and that made them sick? I don't know, I don't know. And basically that's really all I've got for you today. I'm just not into it right now. Tough crowd.
Speaker 1:Miss America, who represented New York, defends pageant makeup after social media trolls took aim. Oh, tiger handler and joe exotic associate fatally mauled at oklahoma preserve. If you guys know joe exotic, uh, tiger, what is it? Tiger king or whatever that show was called? I have not seen it so I don't know. But um, a tiger handler who was an associate of tiger king star, joe exotic, was fatally mauled by a big cat under his care at an oklahoma preserve over the weekend. Ryan easily is his name died after a tiger attacked him during an accident on Saturday at Growler Pines. The word accident is in quotations.
Speaker 1:This tragedy is a painful reminder of both the beauty and unpredictability of the natural world. Ryan understood those risks, not out of recklessness, but out of love. Why do these people want to do these things with these? All right, so that happened. That's terrible. See what I mean? Everything's just terrible, terrible, terrible.
Speaker 1:I've got to start doing something else. I am on my Bible in a Year with Father Mike and we're finally into the New Testament. We're finished. Well, where are we Acts? Of course, the Acts and Romans, maybe. Does that sound right? Yeah, so we're in those. We're in those. Oh, okay, I guess I need to do the question of the day. I'm sorry, y'all was not really prepared. Okay, question of the day. I'm sorry y'all was not really prepared. Okay, question of the day. All right, this is kind of a silly and off the wall question. What does your odometer say on your car? What does it read? Mine is 70,000 miles, 773, 70,773 miles, which means I have to get an oil change in another 500 miles and I'll get a tire balance and rotation and all that too. So, yeah, that's my question of the day. What mileage do you have on your car? Okay, yeah, that's it. I got to go. Thanks for listening, bye.
